CSE 694 Blogs in Education

So, it's over a month before classes begin, but I just enrolled in this course and decided to blog to try out the software.

It's okay. Go ahead and say it. You know you're thinking it.

There's really no point in fighting it anymore. I've embraced my inner nerd.

So far, so good with the blog setup. I'll be playing with it over break to see what I
can do. If anyone has some great ideas about how to use a blog in a first-year
college composition course, I'd love to hear them. So far, my idea is for students
to keep a blog about their research projects, but I am thinking that it might be
too inefficient for me to hop from blog to blog to read  their work. Would it
work to become a "follower" of each blog or am I asking for hundreds of
emails detailing each post? Any ideas?

  1. Blogs eliminate the expressions on my face, which in this case is a great big smile for a person with so much energy and enthusiasm for reaching out to try new media. Blogging does not single criterion for being a nerd so you're going to have to try harder to earn that label.

I will link you on my blog (digitalinklings.blogspot.com) and you can visit me and follow me. During December the more active blog will be denvygail.blogspot.com while we travel in China. Those blog entries will be emailed from an iPad when WiFi is available.

We will all learn how this new tool can benefit our future and our delivery of information and the development of knowledge.

  2. Thanks! I am currently working on finals, but will post back here pretty soon to discuss a book I am reading--MetaWikinomics. I've read Tapscott's other books (well, some of them) and I find them relentlessly optimistic but also fascinating. ;->
